Cerys’ Season Update

Cerys has had an amazing season which culminated in a load of medals at the BRITS in Laax. After some injuries in the last few years she has had an amazing return to form and managed to put together great runs when it mattered. We asked her for an update on her season.

The Europa cup was held this year in Laax Switzerland. I had already been out there a week training with the GB guys when I found out the contest was running a few days before it was scheduled, so I decided to enter and see how it goes. The pro line was running perfectly and the sun was shining down on us all day after stomping my second qualification run I was, to my complete shock, put into the finals in 6th place! I then threw down trying to make my run even better than before and moved up a spot into 5th place in the overall standings! Couldn’t have asked for more from my first Europa cup.

A few weeks later I flew out to a completely new destination, Czech Republic where I was due to compete in the junior world cup. The standard of riding from across the world is insane and It was a big experience boost seeing where other riders my age are at. I didn’t qualify into either events final but gained a lot of experience and got to shred a tricky but cool rail line that all the pros had been riding only a couple of weeks before hand.

Next up was back to Laax for the British championships which I have loved competing in for the last few years both in and outdoor. I placed 1st in Under 18’s Slope Style, 1st in Under 18’s Halfpipe, and 1st in Under 18’s Boarder Cross. I even tried skiing while I had a chance for fun and placed 2nd in Under 18’s for Big Air! Then finally in Big Air for Snowboarding I placed 1st in Under 18’s and 2nd Overall. To top of an amazing season, I won best trick of the big air day landing a front side 720 and won £500!
