R.I.P Edge Hold Technology
Both our Triple Camber Hybrid and Triple Camber Reurve profiles feature R.I.P. Edge-Hold Technology. R.I.P. does not use the traditional bumpy sidecut found in other edge technology, the kind that protrudes from the sidecut of the board, which causes drag when on edge.
Sidecuts were historically a set radius. The more sidecut the more it turns. It is common knowledge that when introducing rocker or different camber profiles to a board, something needs to be done to improve edge hold. Sidecuts with wavy edges were one way around this. We used our Vario powergrip Sidecut to use different radius sidecuts at different point along the boards edge. This maintains a smooth edge but also creates more contact points.
R.I.P takes this to
the next level by matching cambered areas with the contact points.
Key Features:
Increased Glide
By lifting the base in strategic areas, R.I.P
. minimizes friction between the board and snow. It acts as a permanent, maintenance-free base structure. This design allows for smoother, faster riding while maintaining grip and stability across various terrains.
Reduced Drag
Our Edge-hold Technology is not a drag! There are no bumpy protrusions jutting out from the side of your board interrupting your fluid carves and slowing transitions. Our sidecuts, combined with Hyrbid Triple Camber or Recurve Traditional Traditional Camber eliminate the drag and result in a smoother, faster ride with effortless transition from edge to edge.
Grip On Ice
The added camber zones in profiles that have R.I.P. create high-pressure contact points along the edge, allowing the board to bite into icy surfaces with precision. This enhanced edge hold provides superior grip and stability, even in the toughest, most firm conditions.
Confident Stability
The combination of multiple contact
points and strategically placed camber zones ensures the board remains locked in and responsive, offering a solid, stable feel underfoot. This design boosts rider confidence by maintaining control and balance at high speeds, on catwalks, and traversing.
Straight Tracking
The camber zone between the bindings create a stable platform in the center of the board, helping it track straight and true, especially on flat sections or when coming off the lift. This design reduces saucering and enhances stability for a smoother, more controlled ride.
Complete Balance
R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology strikes the perfect balance between grip, glide, and stability, seamlessly blending the benefits of camber and rocker profiles. With its innovative design, R.I.P. delivers confident edge control, reduced drag, and effortless tracking, ensuring a versatile ride that performs across all conditions and riding styles.
R.I.P Edge Hold VS Traditional Camber
Whilst traditional camber allows you to have strong edge hold, it is limited to 2 contact points. One at the front and one at the back of the board. This means that if you lose one of those it is game over.
R.I.P Edge Hold VS Serrated Edges
R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology is an innovative take on existing edge hold technologies. Magne-Traction and other brand's 'wavy' edges are good technologies, but they reduce the benefits of a consistently smooth sidecut radius. 'Serrating' the sidecut by putting bumps along the edge does provide good edge hold, but can introduce a catchy feeling and increase unnecessary friction. R.I.P. utilizes the camber and rocker zones of the 'base' plane to introduce high pressure contact points between the bindings while maintaining a smooth sidecut, providing powerful edge hold while reducing drag, instilling confidence and boosting performance.
