NS x BURA April 2016

The guys over at Bura Travel invited us out for a week in April to hang out, explore the area and ride some classic spring conditions. We were staying in Peisey which sits in the middle of Paradiski where Les Arcs and La Plagne are linked by the Vanoise Express cable car. This alone is a good reason to go there! Both areas are huge – together they are vast giving you years worth of terrain to explore.

As soon as we met the team at Bura we knew we were in good hands! Dinner on arrival day was clear evidence we were going to be well fed too! For the first couple of days we explored Les Arcs and got longboard rider Dale making his first turns on snow. We set Dale up on a Snowtrooper – super forgiving and easy to rise, but with a fast base capable of keeping speed over the slushy areas especially on flat sections. With a little coaching from Andre we were soon up and cruising.

With poor visibility and warm weather it wasnt ideal for any freeriding – instead we just took time to hang out and cruise around th

Typically of spring conditions – the weather varied alot from day to day. On a dry day we went on a skate mission to shoot some downhill longboarding. See more downhill skating shots here.

The whole area is great for hiking or trail running or just plain old exploring in early winter and spring. In winter there is obviously snow in most areas unless you drop lower in the valley. After spending our mornings and early afternoons on the hill we went exploring in the afternoons.

By the end of the week we had covered a lot of ground in both Les Arcs and La Plagne. We had spent time testing different 16/17 snowboards, spend time together with team riders and Dale learnt to snowboard! We are hoping to get another chance to hang out with the BURA team this winter! If you are looking to explore this area check them out – they have a selection of NS boards there too!
